In April, Moses had the privilege of leading worship in English and Chinese for the China Outreach Ministries conference in Pennsylvania. Once again ministering alongside the president of Canada International Students Organization, Dr. Yaw Perbie, who is originally from Ghana, in West Africa. Dr. Perbie spoke and Moses led worship. It was a great time of learning and meeting new friends with a passion to reach international students with the gospel. We were once again challenged with the possibilities of what God could do through these International Students as they come to know Jesus. Did you know that Kim Jung Un, current leader of North Korea, was an international student in Switzerland? Or the first female president of the nation of Taiwan, Tsai Ing Wen, studied at Cornell University here in the United states? WHAT IF these individuals were reached with the gospel? The ramifications for their nations would be enormous! There is a huge opportunity to transform nations through those that come to the universities here in the west. Like in Acts 2:11, when people hear the praises of God in their own tongue, God can and does awaken by His Spirit a hunger in them for Him.
Paul recounts a story in Philippians where a dear friend of his, Epaphroditus fell ill and almost died but God had mercy on both of them sparing them incredible sorrow. Today we can say with Paul that God had mercy on our son, Ethan, and not only on him, but on us his parents and spared us sorrow upon sorrow. It was about 4am in the morning. I held my distraught wife and she wept because of our current circumstances. We had received some unpleasant news at our first ultra sound. Ethan’s bladder was quite distended and there were indications that his kidneys may have been damaged. The doctors where saying this child could have genetic disorders among other issues.
